Fitness & Nutrition Book Review: Eat This and Live!

Quick … how many diet books do you have collecting dust on your shelf, all promising a thinner you in thirty days or something of the sort? Dozens? Too many to count in one sitting? And even better, how many have worked for you, and long-term at that? If you’re like most of us, the answer is none, nada, zilcho goose-egg.

There’s a refreshing book written by a real live doctor (instead of a well-intentioned celebrity), that is not only a fun read, but is stimulating and challenging in unexpected ways. The book, Eat This and Live!, by Don Colbert, MD, is presented in an easy-to-read format, with lots of colorful graphics, charts, facts and photos. In other words, you don’t have to have an advanced degree in order to decipher the words.

Colbert’s angle is to help readers learn which foods to embrace (and digest…), and which ones to either avoid altogether or use in moderation. His mantra? “All foods are not created equal.” In fact, according to Colbert, some food should not even be labeled food but rather "consumable product" or "edible, but void of nourishment."

In Eat This and Live! Dr. Don Colbert provides a road map to help you navigate today’s abundance of food offerings. Based on the key principles for healthy eating in Dr. Colbert's New York Times best seller, The Seven Pillars of Health, this practical guidebook to food includes "Dr. Colbert Approved" foods and restaurant menu choices, along with helpful tips, charts, and nutrition information that, according to the author, will make it easier for you to stay healthy and lose weight. If you love facts on health and nutrition, and if you want to eat a healthier diet, this book is a great option to explore.
